Thai food can be extremely spicy, but often dishes served in the US are toned down for western palettes.
It's no wonder then that spice fan Logan Doan, from Jacksonville, Florida, requested that his Pad Thai be extra hot at a Thai street food stall when he went for lunch one day.
But the vendors took him at his word and decided to test his tolerance, which Logan discovered when he found a terrifying but hilarious note at the bottom of his receipt: 'Make him regret being born'.
Logan Doan asked for extra spicy noodles at a Thai street food stall one lunchtime - and received this terrifying but hilarious receipt for his order
The word 'spicy' was written on Logan's receipt a whopping 17 times.
And apparently when the Pad Thai dish was handed to him, the box was emblazoned with flames, and the noodles were topped with a mound of red pepper flakes.
Logan posted a picture of the hilarious receipt on Reddit last week under the username Lowghen, and it quickly went viral, racking up 126,000 upvotes.
The spiciness of a Pad Thai - a stir-fried noodle dish traditionally containing prawns, egg and peanuts - can be adjusted according to your tolerance levels
Though the frightening note at the bottom of the receipt may have intimidated some, Logan simply found it funny and saw it as a challenge.
The Thai street food vendors probably thought Logan's request for extra spicy food was just bravado, which is why they made his order 17 times more spicy than normal.
But the incident proves that the Thai food fan does have a particularly high tolerance for spice after all as he said he didn't even find the dish that hot.
Reddit users said that they had requested extra spicy noodles from Thai places before and had 'hallucinated' from the intensity but Logan told the Kansas City Star yesterday: 'Some folks in my office thought I was crazy for eating it, but I didn't really get a rush from it.'
