A multi-car freight train derailed in a suburb of Chicago on Thursday afternoon, police have said.

The derailment occurred Thursday in Aurora, which is 50 miles west of Chicago.

Police said that nobody was injured as a result of the derailment.

News of the accident was reported by WGN-TV.

Authorities said that the derailment did force the evacuation of the Aurora Animal Care and Control Center and a local business on South River Street.
